Simulation of Fluid–Structure Interactions in Hydraulic Turbines
We are looking for motivated Master’s and PhD students to join our research team at the Hydropower Innovation Center (HEKI) at Université Laval. These fully funded positions are part of MD-Francis, a five-year collaborative research initiative involving four universities and six industrial partners. The objective of the project is to characterize the impact of anomalies on the operation of hydraulic turbines.
🔬 Project Overview
During your graduate studies, you will develop novel numerical methods applied to fluid–structure interactions (FSI) in hydraulic turbines.

Integration of theory, experiments, data analysis, and machine learning

Collaboration within an international and interdisciplinary research environment
💡 Ideal Candidate Profile

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or physics engineering (or equivalent)

Strong background in computational fluid dynamics (CFD)

Knowledge of fluid–structure interactions (FSI) and turbomachinery
-
Programming experience
-
Curious, motivated, and collaborative mindset
